About Us

The Yurok Tribe is the largest Tribe in California, with more than 6,000 enrolled members. Since time immemorial (Noohl Hee-Kon), the Yurok people have inhabited over 490,000 acres of ancestral lands along the Lower Klamath and Trinity Rivers. Today, the Yurok Reservation encompasses approximately 56,000 acres, stretching along a 48-mile corridor of the Lower Klamath River—from the Bluff Creek drainage near Weitchpec to the river’s mouth at Requa. The Tribe’s history is marked by resilience, as they have faced generations of struggle to retain their lands, preserve their culture, and ensure their survival.
